Co-founder and CEO of VholdR, Marc Barros is a distinguished graduate of the University of Washington (UW). Marc founded VholdR with his business partner, Jason Green, in 2003 after entering the UW Annual Business Plan Competition and wowing the judges with a unique strategy to create the first wearable camcorder for action sports enthusiasts. Marc’s forte is in business development, marketing, and product development.

James Dailey: MicroEnergy Credits

MicroEnergy Credits uses technology to lower the cost of transactions between the $120Billion carbon market and 250 Million microfinance borrowers in developing countries. Winner of the 2008 Global Social Venture Competition and semi-finalist in the 2010 Buckminster Fuller prize for humanitarian design, MEC is building internet based, offline, & smart phone applications geared to work in developing countries. We’ve recently launched Yurtcozy.org a site that allows people like you and me to offset their carbon by connecting to a clean energy borrower in a place like Mongolia.

James Dailey is CTO and co-founder of MEC. He worked at the Grameen Technology Center since its founding in 2001, and led the development of the Microfinance Open Source (Mifos) project. He holds a degree in MIS from the University of Notre Dame, and a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on international environmental policy from the University of Washington’s Evan School. He has worked on several business start up concepts, including Credit Bureaus for Microfinance and MicroFinance ClearingHouse. He is also a long time Board member of Climate Solutions, a non-profit in Seattle, and has written on the impact of Climate Change on West Africa. He started his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa, teaching mathematics. He has worked extensively internationally.

Maya Bisineer: Memetales

Memetales is an online marketplace for children’s books, media and related merchandize. Memetales will allow creators, authors and illustrators to sell their books along with customized merchandise related to their books. In a time when publishing is evolving, memetales combines self-publishing of books with a new way for authors to monetize, so that every creative person is empowered to not only sell their books in multiple formats without a publisher, but also make money by selling customized children’s merchandize. Memetales opened doors less than 3 weeks ago and is quickly growing.

Maya has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Business from Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Before founding Memetales, Maya worked in the corporate world (Qwest Communications, Compuware Corporation, American Chemical Society ) as a software designer, developer, architect and consultant for over 10 years. Maya’s passion for technology, background and aptitude for business and a commitment to children and education is what led to Memetales.

Ken Watson, ir2020

For the past 2 years ir2020 has been heads-down and developing a tool for the investor relations market. Our secret sauce is not very secret – we went out and asked what customers wanted, needed and desired, then built a product based on that feedback. Now, as we approach our launch, we are taking on the incumbent players and speaking with other large players about go-to-market partnerships. Ken Watson is CEO and co-founder of ir2020. Previously, Ken shipped software, ran businesses and was a field consultant for Microsoft in Australia, EMEA and the US.
